Help File Library: Print Server Configuration Under Linux

DHCP is the default IP setting for the Print Server. Use the Bi-Admin utility to configure the Print Server’s IP address and Subnet.

 

Configuration

Log in as root and start X server

Network Configuration

  1. Go to Control Panel
  2. Click [Network Configuration]
  3. Click [Hosts]
  4. Click [Add]
  5. Fill out the following information
  1. IP = IP address
  2. Host name = KT******
  3. Nick name = Print Server
  1. Click [Done]
  2. Click [Quit]

Printer Configuration

  1. Click [Printer Configuration]
  2. Click [Add]
  3. Select Remote Unix (lpd) Queue
  4. Click [OK]
  5. Fill out the following information
  1. names=lp
  2. Spool Directory=/usr/spool/HP (This will create the queue directory)
  3. File size= (leave default)
  4. Remote Host=KT****** (Model number of the Print Server)
  5. Remote Queue =L1
  6. Input filter = (Select your printer. If your printer is not in the list, leave this section blank)
  1. Click [OK]
  2. Click [lpd]
  3. Click [restart lpd]
  4. Click [OK]
  5. Click [Quit]

Print a Test Page

  1. Go to Control Panel
  2. Click [Printer Configuration]
  3. Highlight [ Lp Remote lpd queue L1 on KT******] (this is the text that should appear in the window)
