Help File Library: Obtaining vmlinuz For LoadLin

If LILO has failed you and you wish to switch to LoadLin but you cannot
boot up into Linux to copy your vmlinuz file to your Windows partition,
the following step-by-step Help File just may save the day for you.
- Use any Windows browser to go to the following URL:
http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/explore2fs.htm
- Download the newest version of "Explore2FS" for Windows 9x and NT.
- In your C:\ (root) directory, make a new folder named Explore2FS
- Unzip the contents of the downloaded "ZIP" file into the new folder.
- Using Windows explorer, open the Explore2FS folder and double click on
the file named explore2fs.exe
- A Linux explorer will appear. Sit back and relax, it may take a few
minutes for the explorer to read the Linux partition and display it's
contents. (You may have to click on the + sign next to the Linux drive
icon if the contents are not displayed within 2 minutes)
- Once the contents of your Linux drive is displayed, find your vmlinuz
file. (usually located in / or in /boot)
- Click on the vmlinuz file in the Linux explorer and drag it across to
the Windows explorer and drop it into the C:\ directory.
(DANGER : DO NOT RELEASE THE MOUSE BUTTON WHILE DRAGGING THE FILE BETWEEN
THE WINDOWS)
- Close the Linux explorer. (Linux explorer should only be used for
emergencies)
- Install LoadLin and boot into Linux!
